History of SFH
Occupational therapists and physiotherapists, interested in hand rehabilitation, discussed for many years the necessity of having meetings of their own, exchanging experience and promoting development within their field. The interest in starting an association for hand rehabilitation grew stronger after taking part in the annual meetings for Swedish hand surgeons for many years.
The Swedish Association for Hand Rehabilitation was founded on the 6th of December 1990 by the occupational therapists and physiotherapists at the hand surgery departments in Sweden. The board consisted of Mona Larsson Linköping, chairman, Christina Flodmark Uppsala, secretary, Anders Boström Umeå, treasurer, Anita Pihlström and Birgitta Rosén Malmö ordinary members of the board and Kerstin Caine Göteborg and Majvor Davidsson Uppsala, substitute members of the board.
